We at the Writing Center enjoy working with the entire F&M community, so to avoid lost time on our schedule and ensure our maximum availability, we will be instituting a no-show and late cancellation policy.

Beginning this Sunday, November 5, 2023, if you are not able to attend the appointment you scheduled at the Writing Center, please cancel your appointment at least four (4) hours in advance.

Please note, that repeated instances of no-shows or late cancellations may result in a loss of Writing Center privileges.

If, due to an emergency, you are unable to cancel your appointment with sufficient advance notice, please call the Writing Center at 717-358-3866 and leave a message with the following:

  • your name
  • your appointment time
  • the class for which you made an appointment
  • the reason why you are cancelling

For further details regarding the no-show and late cancellation policy, refer to the following schedule of steps, each occurring after a documented no-show or late cancellation:

Step #1

You will receive an email warning and reminder about the policy.

Step #2

Your Writing Center privileges—the ability to make an appointment—will be suspended for 1 week.

Step #3

Your Writing Center privileges—the ability to make an appointment—will be suspended for 2 weeks.

Step #4

Your Writing Center privileges—the ability to make an appointment—will be suspended for the remainder of the semester.
